Window grids (or grilles, or muntins, etc.) are basically decorative lines that visually separate a window into panes. Nowadays, this features is an aesthetic choice for homeowners. With many styles, patterns, colors, and types to chose from, there is a configuration to match your home and style. At SoftLite, we offer two main types of grids: between the glass and simulated divided lites (SDLs).

Between-the-Glass Grids

These internal grids will give your windows the look and feel of divided-lite windows — without the hassles! Because the grids are between the glass panes, these allow smooth glass surfaces on the inside and outside of the glass for easy cleaning. Plus, these grids collect no dust as they are inside the glass. Our grids come in white or beige vinyl or can match internal or external laminates or our Sure-Coat PVC exterior paint options. Choose your width and your style:

Grids or types of grids are not available on all styles of windows or in all patterns. Grids are available in all colors and
wood grains. Wide widths are only available in white and beige.

Simulated Divided Lites

Perfect for historical homes, these grids maintain the beauty of your home, and achieve the look of true colonial-style windows, with grids applied to both the interior and exterior panes. This helps to maintain the energy efficiency of the window.

Patterns/Configurations

Chose the pattern that suits your style. There are many to chose from for each style of window. Not all grid types work with all patterns. Some of the more popular grid configurations:

Etched V-Grooves

Glass v-grooving is a technology that produces decorative grooves or patterns on the surface of glass (interior or exterior) that adds
a touch of elegance and enhances the overall aesthetics of a space. SoftLite offers three types of 3/8” V-grooves:

Shadow beveled
V-groove with a transparent finish in the center of the groove and two opaque lines, one on
each side of the V-groove.

Frosted
V-groove with an opaque finish that limits the amount of light that goes through and gives
more privacy.

Polished
V-groove that has a transparent finish.
Custom patterns upon customers request and extra charge.

Colors

Depending on which product line you choose, your color options change. From interior woodgrain colors and laminate to exterior laminate and Sure-Coat PVC bond colors – there is an option for you! Not all color options are available on all product lines or styles.
